Newly single! The freedom thing is great, but I've never felt without it, even in a relationship. TB

Being married is a great thing if you marry the right person. My wife doesn't hike much (not by her choice) but is very supportive of my desire to do so. When we first got married, we hiked and camped every weekend as we tried to do all the hikes in the original "100 Hikes" book. She has plantar fasciatis now and it limits her outdoor efforts. In fact, her support has been wonderful and she never complains about the gear I buy. I think she bought into the line, "its cheaper than golf" On the other hand, I never complain when she takes a special trip to Gettysburg or some Civil War historical place as she is a true history buff and is currently studying the civil war era. So mark me NOT single and damn glad. up.gif

Well gosh, I guess I tried to say that I've never been in a relationship that was controling, or that made me feel that I wasnt free to be myself, or do what I wanted. How's that? Oh and M. & S. my tounge is sticking WAY out at you! tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif TB

What the heck IS my status?
Getting divorced. Again. Is a friendly divorce an oxymoron? Or am I just a moron? Don't answer that, I need my dignity. My ex-to-be and I are good friends. We've learned a lot from each other. But I'm not looking for a replacement, just good "mountain pals" both sexes. W. H. Auden said it better than me, "hearts that were broken long ago have long since been breaking others." Karen

Single and looking... Was engaged for a bit...but things didn't quite work out. I should have known I was in trouble when we took our first "hike" up from the Sunset parking lot. She got discouraged when she saw that we had another 1/8 miile to the first saddle and asked if we really needed to go to the "top". "I mean, does the view really get any better?" eek.gif lol.gif bawl.gif

My best to you Miss. Karen! I learned a long time ago (9 months in the hospital) that basically no matter what is happening to you, there are other people who have got it much worse. I took head in that knowledge and realized that even battling cancer, I was a lucky person. Michael, you poor bastard. How did your mind survive? doh.gif doh.gif TB
