I hate it when forums allow guests to post.

Registration won't really solve anything. I'm leaving up all the "guest" posts so we have an audit trail if we need to contact an ISP or employer. If someone wants to risk losing their cable internet, DSL service, or employment, it's their choice. Edit: I'm moving the offending posts to a non-public area of the forum.

Tom, I am curious to how someone would lose thier job posting here. Is there somthing that I don't know about? I guess that sounds a little threatening since I am new here.

I also have the same water filter as Mark Twight

Just saying that if someone wants to spam this site, we will contact the internet service provider (as indicated by the IP logs). In some cases that may be an employer who may not be amused.

The quality of this site does not necessitate the need for registration. Thank goodness I only post quality stuff on this site.

If one were to send something like those posts from where I work, even during your "own" hours, you'd more than likely be hitting the road and looking for a paycheck elsewhere. Maybe those posters need a life lesson.

I can get reprimanded and potentially canned just for viewing this site or any non-work related site from work. On anybodies time. NN

It's pretty safe to say that if we take all of man kinds accumulated knowledge, we still don't know everything. So, I hope you understand why I don't believe you know everything. But then again, maybe you do.

The "need" for registration is something I fail to understand. Anybody can register under any moniker they like, use any email account they can set up anywhere, say they live anywhere and make up totally false info. The end result being you don't know a darned thing more about them in reality than you do if they didn't register. I don't understand the need some people have to convince themselves that registration actually means something.

it certainly doesn't work at Cc.com, they have registration and the board is half sewage anyway. IMO the content of a site has more to do with the temperment of the moderator and what they delete, than registration.

My opinion is that the board is very civil and non-threatening. I enjoy posting as guest for comedy purposes. Since I always use the same computer (home), there is complete traceability. The moderators (thanks!) remove naughty stuff, so why do we need mandatory reg? If someone could explain the advantages of it, perhaps I would feel differently. I lack data.

Slugman, if you want to post with a different name there is no need to logout and post as a guest. Just override your username at the top of the screen when posting.

I personally find the so-called "humor" from the guest posts very un-humorous. Perhaps they would be less stupid if these guest posters posted with their own member name. JMHO bricks.gif
