Blanca Lake
July 2nd 2003
This was my first hike to Blanca Lake and it has wow factor.
I came prepared for snow but there are only a few patches at the high point and it is easily crossed. I also came prepared or lots of bugs and
There were none, no flies or mosquitoes. The weather was cool just a few clouds and only two other hikers at the lake.
Oh yea, don’t go there its just terrible.

Sweet picture, Reuben. Hey... now you have your own.
I've never been there. So is the color always that turquoise?

Okay. Where is that lake, and how do I get there? It's absolutely beautiful!

I got lucky, basically the perfect morning.
I also took 147 photos in 40 minutes, it’s basically impossible to pick
A best shot from this hike.
The reflection was just too nice, here is another shot.
Take 2 to 63 and turn left at the end of the pavement, near Index.

Sounds and looks like it was a great hike--I've been meaning to go to Blanca for quite sometime, maybe I will now. I notice in the second shot, the lake looks a lot less turquoise than the first. I suppose that has a lot to do with the way the light hits the water.
I really like the reflection in the second shot. It makes me want to get a digital camera instead of my disposable Kodaks.
I don't want to cause a thread drift, so a PM would probably be better, but what's the cheapest decent digital camera that you can buy... anybody? It's been a while since I've looked into it.
Thank you
Andrew

Yes, a great shot indeed. "Slow Poke Photographer" indeed! It takes me about 40 minutes to just SET UP my medium format camera
