This trail isn't on the maps, but it is gorgeous and not terribly difficult. The trail lies at the end of rd. #33 off of 542 in the Mt. Baker wilderness. The trail takes off up the ridge line with no switchbacks the entire 2 mile(?) length. The hike is stiff, but oh so worth it! The view is essentially the same as you get on Skyline Divide, but no crowds. We saw 3 other people the entire hike.
Road 33 is passable in a regular car. It's about 12 miles long.
The trail is unmistakable and also unmaintained. Rough, rooty and steep.
The bugs were relentless. We stepped out of the car into a skeeter feeding frenzy and walked into horsefly heaven (hiker purgatory). The bugs didn't let up till we got to the ridge tops, and then only when the breeze was blowing.
Nothing in bloom there yet, except for some very early heather.
Photo when I figure out how to get one up! (takes me awhile sometimes)
