We just started our annual "hamstering" and got 24 quart-Mason jars of Apricots - the kids live on that stuff in the winter! Anyone got any special ideas/techniques they'd like to share? We just do the usual boil/sugar/can routine - some of the cherries (from an especially productive year) have lasted 3 years with no problems. On that note, the fruit stand in Newcastle (Coal Creek Pkwy around 76th, across from the QFC and kiddy-korner from Safeway) sold us two 25lb boxes of 'Cots for less than 50c per pound! They were so good I only had to junk one half of a fruit from each box!

Thanks for the tip on the fruit stand! I'm going to be doing my jam this week .biggrin.gif Sounds like your doing just what I am as far as canning whole fruit.

I got a little drier last year and have been using that to dry all sorts of fruit and some veggies. Although they're not as good as canned, they add tremendous variety to baked goods and trail mixes. Does anyone else here dry stuff ? What do you do with it ?
