Apparently Della Falls isn't exactly as easy to see as Takakkaw Falls is too. My shots from Takakkaw last summer... http://home.earthlink.net/~geoffcon/pics/takakkaw1.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~geoffcon/pics/takakkaw2.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~geoffcon/pics/takakkaw3.jpg And if we're dipping into Canada, how about Helmcken and Spahats Creek Falls in Wells Grey: http://home.earthlink.net/~geoffcon/pics/helmcken1.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~geoffcon/pics/spahats.jpg

Wow, those are great shots. How much of a drive/hike is it to Takakkaw?

Takakkaw is right at the end of the road in Yoho Valley (Yoho NP). IF you get up early enough, you can drive there in a day, we made it home from Golden (just outside the park) in a day, but we got up late-ish. Of course, you really ought to take a few days, the drive up is really pretty (once your past Kamloops at least), especially through Glacier and along parts of Shuswap Lake. BUT, if you're going there, you have to do Twin Falls also. We did it the same day we hiked Johnston Canyon in Banff, so we didn't make it all the way to the falls, but I got a decent picture from the distance. Well worth the walk (we went in about 3 1/2 miles, it's about 5 to the base of the falls). http://home.earthlink.net/~geoffcon/pics/twin.jpg

Johnston canyon is pretty darned cool. We brought wetsuits and explored Johnston and a couple similar slot canyons and there are some really impressive sections of pools->falls->pools->falls etc not visible from the trails above them. Especially fun to climb the falls and swim the pools, even better coming down when you can do some jumping!

Yeah, Johnston Canyon was really cool, but as far as the named canyons went, I thought Maligne Canyon in Jasper was by far the coolest. HOWEVER, there's also Beauty Creek near the Icefields which was by far the most scenic. Oodles of waterfalls, water bluer than the sky, a 3-20 foot wide gorge all set amidst sub-alpine trees. Really gorgeous (no pun intended). Pics - http://home.earthlink.net/~geoffcon/gallery.htm Scroll down to the series of "Beauty Creek Falls" and "Stanley Falls" 5 of the falls in Johnston Canyon are in there too.

Nice shots of Takakkaw Sore Feet. I wouldn't mind trying that sometime. Looks spectacular indeed. As far as my contibution goes... if I told you where it was then you couldn't *find* it now could you? Actually I didn't play real fair. It's HorseTail falls out of Valdez, AK. Taken last June. It's pretty safe to say that if we take all of man kinds accumulated knowledge, we still don't know everything. So, I hope you understand why I don't believe you know everything. But then again, maybe you do.

Bryan. You need locator maps. Your sites are getting pretty overwhelming. Your falls-specific links are great but, map freak that I am, I'd like to be able to move from the map to the specific falls in areas smaller than your "regions". rolleyes.gif Scrooge ps - Your Canadian pics are awesome! agree.gif agree.gif agree.gif

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!

It's down the line. Me and a friend have a database working that links each waterfall to it's location on Topozone. It should be working for all the falls on my site, I hope to eventually take the links from the DB and link it from my site to topozone too (but that will take a while). Soooo, for now, do this: Go to http://www.wpnw.addr.com/pnwd/index.html and search for whatever your interested in, anything that is on my site will link back to it under the waterfall's name, the topozone maps are linked to on the quadrangle name. Not all the falls on my site have the links to the maps, but I'm gonna work on updating the DB tonight. NN - I sort of thought it wouldn't be around here. Now that I look at it, I'm sort of biffed I didn't recognize it earlier (from other pictures, haven't been there) clown.gif
