I left Tacoma at 8 on 9/27 with two friends and arrived at the Trailhead at 10:30. The parking lot was full and the we expected a real crowd at our destination. The trail is steep in places, but it's only 1.3 mi to the saddle. Arriving at the saddle the views to the south of Mt Adams and the Goat rocks was outstanding and Mt Rainier to the north . WOW WOW & WOW. Nice hike with friends and the area didn't seem crowded because the hillside allows you to spread out. Fall colors were wonderful!!!

I did this hike earlier in the summer, and if you think the view from the saddle is good, follow the trail to Plummer Peak, the view from there is even better, and not much effort is needed to get there from the saddle.
