Trekked up there today, new trail seems complete. Nice views, very "civilized". At the junction of Mason Lake vs Bandera, continued up to Bandera with the little path halfway until an urgent call from work intervened. Heck, after 3600' it was socked in with fog anyway.
Even with the fog etc, I think this is a nice trail, plenty of views. However, if my destination is Mason Lake, I would definitely still take the original route. fwiw.
