Ok, so it is a lake that everybody and their brother has been to-but as we were hiking with my boyfriend's friends, I figured they'd like it, as they hadn't been there, and our last hike with them was getting lost up at Crystal Mt. I knew I needed a good "visual' hike. Being that it was pouring down the whole way there, there was almost nobody there. But the rain quit, and by the time we hit the saddle-well we had sun! All the peaks have a heavy new cover of snow-just luscious! Even the lake on the far side was snow dusted. Yummmmm...... Coming back all the fog and clouds were gone, and we got a great view of all peaks-all with snow on them smile.gif The waterfalls were pooping out everywhere-after the dry, dry year seeing all the water was just awesome! Yep, his friend's were more than happy and I knew I had given them a good hike. Still very pretty colors in the lake basin.

Thanks Sarbar. I've never been there either. Nice to see the lake. marylou.... Why do you always have to be so sarcastic to Sarbar? Just curious. NN

Oh, Newbie, it's simple I tell you! It's because she didn't get to have my famous picnic lunch I always whip up on group outings lol.gif She's hankering for some of my tasty wraps......

Sarbar, I think marylou would prefer it if you would post your trip reports to her favorite "secret" destinations instead. You know, the ones no one knows about so that everyone can enjoy them.

A fuxk, why do I not give one?

From what I saw up there yseterday the snow line was at about 4,500 ft to 5,000 ft in that area, and I heard from Hoosierdaddy that on sunday Chinook Pass had a miniumn of 1 1/2 ft of snow and it was coming down bad that day...oohlala!! I sense snowshoeing soon biggrin.gif

dunno about snow here to come and go. stepping over headlee pass on saturday was like stepping from fall into winter. 4-6 inches of snow on the rocks. very wet, heavy, packable snow, so not difficult walking. but oh, the wind. went out and bought some gloves yesterday.

forgot to add: i signed it at the trail register upon leaving the parking lot (mine was the only car there). when I got back, the register had been removed and a sign--closed for the winter (the register, not the trail)--had been posted in its place. made me feel a little abandoned.

eek.gif that's kind of spooky. Makes you wonder whether they even looked at the register or not. shakehead.gif
