Couldn't have had a better experience than I had today had I chosen any other day of the year to visit this area. There was still a little snow clinging to the bear grass along the trail above Alaska and Joe Lakes; the surrounding peaks were dusted with new powder; the weather was shorts and shirtsleeves; and the hordes mercifully went somewhere else. Tomorrow looks like more of the same!
