Sounds good, doesn't it? "I hiked the Centennial trail". Well, it's just a paved over train track between Snohomish and Lake Stevens. We started in the middle at Machias, so the first question was "which way to go?" Tanja, Daisy and I decided to head towards Lake Stevens. The whole valley was filled with dense fog. It was creepy. We walked about two miles, past Little Pilchuck Creek, some farms, and a fat chicken chicken.gif in a cage that interested Daisy very much. There is a horse path next to the main trail, separated by a small area of brambles, that allowed us to unleash Daisy without endangering passing cyclists. We saw "evidence" of previous horses, but no actual ponies. There are some nicely placed park benches and picnic tables. The two miles back went very fast, as this is just a more bucolic version of the Burke-Gilman trail. The fog was just in the valley with the trail and the Pilchuck river. Weird.
