Seems like Alan Bauer and I were the only parties at MRNP Weds., very surprising on a crisp clear Jan. day. While he was patrolling his sector on a separate trip with a buddy on Mazama Ridge, etc., I huffed & puffed up to the ridgeline east of The Castle peak in the Tatoosh range. My report over at WTA so I'll spare the details. Just a swell snowshoe day with great powdery conditions. Seems like another epoch while looking out at today's sucky weather! -M&S

I have fond memories of that exact location. About 8 years ago, we camped at that exact location next to the trees, I had food poisoning in one of my meals during January. For four hours I had stuff coming out of both ends.

Well, thanks for sharing those memories. Some morons built a palatial snowcave right below the boot-beaten path atop the ridge- where everyone would have to walk over it, it's pretty narrow there. It looked like they at least tried to collapse part of it but that thing was big enough to park a car in! At least at 5-6' drop if you fell thru the roof.
