Sorry Sluggo, it's never good in any way to BUY a totalled vehicle. Maybe you found a car that was totalled and had NO structural damage, but that is not the norm. I have a good friend that buys wrecked vehicles from auctions. Ive helped him fix them. Stay away from that stuff whenever you can.
I would take EVERY used vehicle to the state patrol and have them test the VIN. The odds of getting a totalled vehicle are higher than you'd think.

Nice shot! Someday, oh someday, my Explorer may be more than a glorified station wagon/sedan with large hauling capacity...but the boyfriend says one thrasher SUV (his) and one sellable one (mine). Oh well......

It's pretty high even with the flat tires.

Hyundai is good. The crew used one for a substitute crummy and made it all the way to the landing, scraping bottom. That baby was screaming to get up the road! It could use a little more room for gear though. I think the air wing thing on the trunk helped a lot. There's a Ford 4X4 pickup parked downtown with a price of $500 or best offer. What a deal!
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

There are cars like this everywhere in Alaska. One I saw was a lincolin and another was an el camino.

I four-wheel a lot, but I bought a Subaru Forester for commuting and trailhead duty. It's got great clearance for a car (watch the exhaust though).
I have a Cherokee and Wrangler that I take off road. I can help you get in to a nice Wrangler if you like.
