Click on the section of the state you are interested in, it will link you to a list of maps for that section. - Files are zipped bitmap photos of the actual USGS quads, and are fairly large. Due to their size, it is handy to have a good image editor to open them, as the buffer size needed is pretty big and some applications man not be able to handle it. - These may not be as useful for map work on computer due to the profusion of CD based maps out now, but I print them out for use on roadtrips and keep a stack in the car. - They have large blank borders, so it's handy to crop them closely before printing in "fit to page" mode in order to maximize their printed size. An 11x17 paper size results in usable maps, maybe not good enough for hiking but handy as heck for the 3R's, roving, roadtrips, and reference. www.reo.gov/reo/data/DRG_Files/northwest.asp (more free downloads - washington & oregon) drg.caldata.ucdavis.edu (more free downloads - california) gisdatadepot.com/catalog (more free downloads of DRG and DEM files) Historic USGS 1:125,000 Quads (select the quad, then the link after "View Map Image" to zoom in and around the map) GISsurfer (General purpose web map.
