I picked Gold Creek because I thought it was low enough to be "mostly" clear of snow and a pretty flat easy hike with some nice views. "Mostly" clear of snow turned out to be closer to "completely buried in snow". I could only drive up to within 3/4 mile of the trailhead. And that was after driving through/over some pretty healthy patches of snow. I ended up picking the wrong route through the residential roads back there and ended up on a trail that I'm pretty sure was not what I intended to be on. And since I didn't bring snowshoes for this "snow-free" hike, postholing through soft, mucky stuff proved to not be worth it. Turned around after a mile and a half and called it a day.
Maybe this coming weekend it will have cleared off some.
