Hey folks, you can be sure that a group of people who have never been on this road is doing a letter-writing campaign right now to keep the rest of us off it.
They see the ONP as "their" preserve. Keeping people out of a preserve that they may never care to visit is their intent. If the towns of Brinnon and Quilcene curl up and die, then that's all the better. They see the Hood Canal Bridge as being the worst thing to happen to the Peninsula since the advent of the car ferry.
This element is imbedded in organizations that have very innocuous names. They are working hard to keep this road closed. If they are successful, look for them to go after more washed-out roads and bridges. It's a way for a very small group of people-who-don't-like-people to create de facto wilderness areas.
I guess if I had three months off from work each summer, then pushing the roadless borders farther out wouldn't steam me so much. If you can drop any kind of a letter into the mail it would help. sailBOI has done all the leg work. Thanks.
