If you have a chance before the snow melts on the lower flanks of Rainier, take a short snowshoe trip on the Nisqually Vista Loop near the Jackson Visitor Center, which is just below Paradise. There is almost no avalanche danger on this loop and it's a pleasant 1.2 mile trip through beautiful forest and views of the mountain! Just park in the upper or lower lots near the center and find the trail by a private residence towards the mountain. You can't miss it! On this February trip, it did snow but the trail and markings were clearly visible. If you do go, let me know how it went. Have a great trip!
I led a team of snowshoers on the loop and they really had a fun time! There is great comfort after being out in the snow at the visitor center for warm food and hot cocoa!
