After work conditioning hike last night. It is surprising how little snow there is now. Went up the trail past Owl Lookout and saw a few folks doing laps on the rocks then crossed up the creek to directly under the ridge. Last year it was snow from the branch now it is mostly bare. The devils club is out and we had bloody knees by the top. Checked out our geochache on the way and it is still in good shape. Made the top around 8PM.Great views of the cascades and watershed from the weather station. Descended via the trail in the books 6 mi. in about an hour and a half. Good time had by all.

Did you take that little side trail off of the main railroad grade and follow that up? I have been up there to climb a little bit, but have never followed the trail to the end. I think I want to do this one. It sounds like you had to beat some brush.

Yes, it is the tread that goes strait when the main trail turns left. The trail crosses a creek soon. then follows a long abandoned road. You turn right and head directly up the ridge. There is little brush now but it will soon be a thicket of devils club, just do it. do not delay!!

Did a variation on the north ridge route today - and have the devil's club scratches to prove it. We cut up too early onto the ridge and couldn't find the trail - went over the ridge and swam through the brush up to where the logging road beneath the summit ends (north side). Long morning, but great views - pics and TR to follow.
