So are the Afghan caves that are getting blown up manmade or natural? On the one hand you see the need to go after the Al Qaeda but on the other you hate to see a natural landscape permanently ruined that in the future a more peaceful society might be able to use for recreation.

Some of the caves are natural, but they've been modified already for thousands of years by humans who've used them for everything from resisting armies to living in while herding sheep. I doubt there are any cave resources which have been untouched there.
