Here is a free online place for uploading photos to. There may be better sites out there, I haven't investigated.

Yeah, if anyone is aware of any good free sites to post photos on, I'm looking for one. Preferably without a space limit. And preferably any that allow off site linking (PB, that one you posted doesn't even allow you to text link to the photo... )

Sooner or later all "free" picture sites are going to be pay. Pictures take up a lot of bandwidth, and bandwidth is expensive. My philosophy is pay a little now and save a lot of grief later when the free sites go under.
http://www.pbase.com is free (though they do suggest a "donation"). I believe they allow external linking.
As far as pay sites, I like http://www.fototime.com. $24/year gets you 250 MB of space, external linking, and some awesome offline album management & sync software.
If you need space, http://www.fotki.com is your place. How can anyone complain about $30/year for unlimited storage and external linking? They also have a "co-branding" feature that allows you to integrate it with your website's skin (not sure why they call it co-branding since there's no fotki branding at all).

I use Web Photos and it's simple to use for storage and free. I've stuck dozens of pics there.

PHOTOPOINT IS ALIVE! (but on life support and in very critical condition)
I've been checking in on occasion to Photopoint to see if there were any signs of life. As most of you probably know, they shut down their site after many people had paid for at least a year's worth of service. Yesterday they posted the following survey:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Updated: Tue Feb 12 10:57:30 AST 2002
PhotoPoint.com is currently offline.
Please check back here (www.photopoint.com) for further developments.
I would like to assure people that their photos have not been lost, and are safe. However, due to the bandwidth, hardware, and labour costs, we are unable to put the site online.
Please take a moment to answer this survey. Only surveys with valid PhotoPoint username/password will be considered. Your first submission is the only one that will be taken into account. Please answer honestly, so we can do what is best for the membership.
This information will be useful in determining how best to move forward in allowing people to possibly get their photos back and/or have their photos online again. We are looking at various options for finding PhotoPoint members a new home.
Thank you for your feedback.

If PhotoPoint is not able to come back online, I would be interested in getting a CD-ROM of my Photos, for $24.95 plus shipping:

If PhotoPoint is able to come back online, I would be willing to pay $5.95 per month for the service:
Yes
No
eBay photo hosting, or the ability to host photos pointed to by third party web sites is:
Not important to me, and I would still be interested in the service.
Essential to me, and I would not subscribe unless this were available.
Please notify me via email if you are able to offer any of the above services:
Use the email address of my account, as above
Use a different email address:

So if you have (had) an account with Photopoint, visit www.photopoint.com and complete the survey. Make sure you tell them that you would LOVE to pay $5.95/month (so they'll assume there's plenty more money to be had) and maybe they'll let us get our pictures downloaded off their site!
A fuxk, why do I not give one?
