This violet flower is probably a Snow Douglasia. We've seen it two years ago in the same area.

Thanks Ulrich. I see that Best Wildflower Hikes WA says "the crazy rocks of the [Iron Pk. ridge] crest are notable for violet cushions of douglasia."

It's been a few years now since I've been up there without snow. I may have to do another summer trip. Do try the Beverly Creek route up next tiime. I find it more enjoyable. It's hard for me to justify a hike up without a 500' slide on down as payoff. A whole lot easier on the knees as well. Sounds like you had a nice day on the mountain. It's interesting to compare the view over Fourth Creek Pass you took (your second photo) to a similar one taken 7 weeks ago.
