I wouldn't normally do a trip report on what was a rather modest hike but since we were recently asked about this area so here is what we found. We came here in search of the legendary flower meadows. We knew going in to temper our expectations since the exectionally dry summer had killed off most of the annual bloom before it even had a chance to get going. Well the namesake heather was non existent and only a few stalwart soldiers were left of what is normally an army of lupins. However the paintbrush was thick & plentiful and there were lots of anemone in their 'cousin it' phase. A smattering of other flowers provided variety. As far as trails go it was rather pleasant, the grade was easy, the tread was good and the views, though modest, were plentiful. All in all it was a successful scouting mission, a mental note if you will to return on a cloudy day when a typically moist summer would transform these meadows to their former glory.
