We are planning an over night trip this weekend, and were thinking of hiking to Burnt Lake on Mt. Hood. Anyone been there recently? Any trip reports out there? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cindy
Hi,
I was on the Burnt Lake trail about 10 days ago. There was snow from fairly close to the trailhead onward. Not a problem. When you get up to the Devil's Meadow fork in the trail it can get confusing. There's considerable blowdown so that locating the route is a challenge.
The road to the trailhead is about 4 1/2 miles of pretty rough stuff.
I doubt that they've cleared the trail, but who knows? My friend Dan, his wife and his dog may go up there this weekend. Tell them hi. I'd love to know what it's like if you go!!
Hi,
If anyone cares, the trail to Burnt Lake is snow & blowdown free. It's very nice up on the ridge but there's not a lot of open country up there. I enjoyed the hike but it really wasn't a thrill a minute.
