I agree, they guy should be fined. Visitors are told not to treat the animals like pets. But, while it's not a zoo, neither is it a wild area. At least not along the main drive. These animals hang out there and are exposed to park visitors continuously. Since the park is managed to allow even idiots access to the critters, the park service has an obligation to make sure that it's as idiot safe as possible - within reason. If that means culling out the overly aggressive critters, that's unfortunate but needed. And it does sound like this one has a record - attacking a park employee that was exiting a building
May post a close-up photo of a bear in the N Cascades NP near Diablo, WA taken by a less-than intelligent acquaintance.
Fortunately the bear spooked when the flash went off, and ran the other way. The acquaintance was looking through the camera's viewfinder and did not realize how close he was approaching the bear ie ~ 5'.
