In honor of the road closing later this year, and because it's just such a cool place, I invite you to post your favorite pictures/recollect your fondest memories of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of digital pictures myself, but here are a couple. I think my fondest memory of that area is when my dad and I did the up-and-over from Necklace Valley out the Chain/La Bohn route. We did that when I was about 13.

I thought the closure had been moved back to '05?

I wouldn't be surprised. Can someone confirm this? Now, Chris, let's not use that as an excuse not to post some pictures from the area. Everyone knows you've been all over the place in the Mfk.

From Dec 5, 2003: Dear Forest User: I have withdrawn the September 26, 2003 Decision for the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Access and Travel Management Plan. My reason for this action is the need to complete special use agreements to specifically address the access rights of private inholders within the upper reaches of the Middle Fork. The September 26th decision was appealed under the agency’s administrative appeal procedures. I feel that the original decision is a good decision. There is clearly a need, however, to address and resolve the issue of access for the inholders before we can implement the Decision Notice for this Plan. Given the agency’s appeal requirements, it is not possible to proceed to address the inholders’ access rights within the prescribed timeframe, unless I withdraw the decision. I believe necessary steps to complete this process within the scope of the original decision will be completed in the next few months. I look forward to your continued interest and involvement with this project and will keep you informed of our progress. Sincerely, /s/ Y. Robert Iwamoto Y. ROBERT IWAMOTO Acting Forest Supervisor Basically there is no decision to close the road at this time.

Despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt.

For years after he moved here from Iowa, my boyfriend only backpacked to Williams/Ivanhoe because it was the only place he knew that had lakes and solitude. The area was our first trip together and one we've done at least annually ever since. I can't compete with Tom's pics, and just posted a few from Ivanhoe in my last trip report, but I always did like this one as it shows our little tent at Williams all alone (no one else at the lake that whole weekend. It was a very romantic first trip).
