I am looking for a fisherman's trail to either Downey Lake/Pilot Lake/Lake 5808. Does anyone have any information?
Would like to know as I will be coming out that way after my trip on Dome Peak this weekend. Thanks. If you don't want to post here then email me before Wednesday (7/10) at 5:00 pm: stefanefeller@hotmail.com

The west ridge of Downey Mtn looks like a good route out from Downey Lake.
I admit to being a ridge-bigot: preferring breezes, views and lack of brush (usually) along ridgelines over jungle valley-pounds.
Good luck on Dome. Hope the weather holds.

I was up there on Sunday and found what I was looking for....
I came across a man above Gloria Lake who fished in Downey Lake two years ago and he said the fish were not what they were used to in years past.
Maybe the Trailblazers will restock............

That current fishing isn't as good as in the past can be said, of course, of numerous places. But if there is a current fishing problem at Downey, I doubt it will be solved by adding more fish.
Did you run across the packer's trail while you were up there?

Yep. Came across the trail. Nice little trail. But man, that trail does NOT like to gain/lose elevation.
