That seems plausible. We use that sort of system commonly in the tunneling/construction industry: tag-in, tag-out.
I'm still waiting for some sort of final verdict on this mystery "thing"--and judging by the thread views, so are a lot of others...

Has anybody thought about maybe emailing the BLM and asking? That might be a good place to start.

Of course, given some of the suggestions, it might get you put on some government watch list.

Yeah, there are a lot of radical pieces of information out there. Just today I was looking for the boundaries and administrative history of the ALW, asked a good contact in the MBSNF, and got the answer in less time than it takes to get to the end of the Entiat road from the Columbia. It IS 42 miles, after all.
Pretty nutty idea.....

I am positively astounded that this group of seasoned backcountry gurus cannot come up with the right answer! And I have absolutely no idea what it is personally

Okay, I got sucked into this thread today. I looked out on the BLM site for projects. They have been doing some rehabilition work in Horse Heaven Hills from fires (projects under Benton county). That seems to be the only thing. I can't see what use this might be.
But looking down farther, there was an interesting post about a creating a trial course for Brittany hunting dogs under Lincoln County. Makes me wonder if it is some post for tying up hunting dogs. It would explain the size and if it was some contest maybe the numbers. Yeah... I know it is a stretch.
Does the Army use this area? Maybe something military.

'Alternately, BLM staff and prison crew labor may be only sources of labor utilized to accomplish all of the work'
It for everyone's coffee cups.
The plot thickens....

Jim's trip report to Navaho Peak (and the mysterious things in it) reminded me that the thing in this thread has never been solved. See the original post here
Perhaps fresh eyes can solve the mystery.

Those things are awesome! It's a set pole for lawn rings. I forgot some the more esoteric rules, but you need a full set of rings to play. The were banned in the late 1970's because people would choke on the rings.

Do we have any 'bug' experts out there?
I've never seen this one before, it was hanging out at Wapiti Woolies yesterday and I thought the markings were unique...any guesses?
