This recently made me go hmmm.gif Since ABBA is spelled the same forwards or backwards, does their music sound* the same when played backwards that it does played normally? hmmm.gif *Meaning, is it just as awesome/sucks backwards as it is forwards

Knows literally nothing

Wow...
Friends, Touron sent me a YouTube of Dolly and Kenny doing Islands in the Stream for another thread and I'm thinking this is a very righteous NWHiker but now I must go rinse the vomit from my mouth... What the heck is an ABBA anyway? Isn't it the cheescakes' initials or something peurile like that??? Sorry T., Stick with Dolly...especially that YouTube dress...(I better go back and check to see if a puff of wind has affected that slit that goes from floor to bosom. Sooo excited!) Tom

Re: Wow...
Careful, ABBA is not a known source of the stomach flu. You will not find ABBA in the index of any medical text book from Aristotle to Dr. Spock. In fact to the contrary, 5/5 doctors play ABBA in their lobby. And usually the reason you have to wait in the lobby so long is because the doctor is in the back room which contains the Bose system, grooving to the beat. up.gif That said, while ABBA won't make you sick, it possibly might help make you feel better. In other words, Waterloo will not be your Waterloo, but for many it is a great placebo. up.gif As far as Dolly goes, that appears to be wardrobe malfunction, but they didn't have a term for it then. The mark of the true professional is how she just keeps on singing like nothing is going on, perhaps even using it as a prop.

Dolly Does ABBA cont.
T., Far be it from Dolly Parton to use any part of her body, wardrobe, or hair piece as a prop. Bite your tongue. BTW, did Dolly ever do any numbers with ABBA? Does Sweden(?) ever come to Dollywood? Tom

Tom, I do not think Dolly and ABBA every performed together. That would be quite the cultural experiece if it happened. Part of the problem is the Europeans have yet to develop any kind of a drawl. Over here we can say ye-e-hp or Y'all, but you can't say o'ui or j'a or s'i. Dolly could sing Take a Chance on Me but she would probably giggle halfway through it and ruin the chancy effect; by the same token, ABBA could sing 9 to 5, but everyone knows they take long siestas in Europe and get 3 month vacations where they get to hike through our Enchantments and ski in Chile. It is not a 9 to 5 mentality. Still, this concert should probably happen and might be the thing that catapults ABBA into the Hall of Fame (not that they need a catapult). up.gif up.gif

I'm not slacking, it's just that sometimes I need time away from the computer to listen to ABBA myself. Too bad the nwhikers calendar does not have an ABBA picture on it--of course that could change at any time. up.gif up.gif

No, it doesn't sound nearly as good, but it still sounds betterthan most other pop songs, with one obvious exception being Paul McCartney and Wings. up.gif up.gif It's probably good that we are getting these form and structure questions out of the way on the first day of the year, so we can sit back and enjoy the music the remaining 364 day.
