Dis day Dan, Drew, Dave, Damom, Dale, Daniel and Don deemed desirable doing a dayhike. Did dey decide Deception? Defiance? Dania? Denny? Davis? Dispair? Devis? Damnation? No they picked Bandera so Mark, Yet, Nikolai, Andrew, Larry, Chris ,Steve, Harry, Blake and Steve N. all showed up. Leaving from home gave me a bit of a head start and the road is developing some good potholes to keep you awake and the road to Talapus has been "Eco blocked" about 10 yards in. The road trail is in fine shape but there are flags calling for work. Mason Creek was in fine form

The trail led to switchbacks and the first view of Rainier and McClellan's Butte.

The route is clear of snow the whole way. On top I ran into Larry who pointed out a couple deer one of which did not move. We wondered if it was dead but then it looked at us.

Ihis included Damon who brought a bottle of fine Ouzo complete with Greek fisherman's hat which he generously shared. We all proceeded off the peak. Several of us for some strange reason felt like dancing to the sounds of Zorba but decided to run down the trail. This made quick work of the long road trail. Still having energy we debauched to the NBBAG for dinner.

My regular Thursday hiking group also hit Bandera last night. We got to the top just after Larry (and Digger), where he warned us of the crowd to follow. (And thanks for pointing out the deer, Larry.) I've been hiking on Thursday evenings with my group for around 8 years, and I believe this is the first time we've crossed paths with TNAB. We headed down as the crowd started arriving, saying "hi" as we passed. It was nice to finally see in real life some of the folks I've seen in pics here. (We also hit the NBBAG for after-hike grub. Love the Trail Burger.) Cheers, slood

Hi slood! It was nice running into you on the trail. Too funny being recognized as the brownie lady by random strangers. embarassedlaugh.gif

Ah, looks like there was a huge crowd this time!! Sorry I had to miss out. Maybe next week if all goes well and I have the time. Yet-you are the brownie lady. smile.gif How come Don put the TR up this time? Not happy with Mark's promptness?

Hey, brownies are cool. (Except when they're fresh from the oven; then they're hot.) As reputations go, you could do a lot worse. wink.gif

Nice up.gif Sorry I missed it - stupid work! down.gif

I'm not always sure I like being older but being less stupid has advantages. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32121172@N00/sets/
