We had some bad moments today. The trail is fine, and the river crossing not too high. Wading may be the best option. No big trees in the way. We found the obscure way path at the 4500' switchback. Within two minutes we were on hard snow. Bad day to leave the boots and crampons behind. We went back and followed the main trail. When it disappeared under continuous snow we turned straight up to the ridge, staying mostly on dirt. The ridge does not 'run' to the peak. It is a series of rocky points. Sidehilling was waypath, followed by brushbashing, followed by steep hard snow, followed by worse brush. We lost interest quickly. Had lunch admiring Twin Peaks and Dickerman, especially a moderate climb up the north side of Dickerman. So, no summit, and then on the way down my camera went for a swim and didn't come back. bawl.gif

I feel funny without it. I wanted to take pictures and video of Jared this morning, but the cupboard was bare. My fault for trusting it not to jump in and cool off.

That really is too bad, Magellan! Sorry about the camera. Jeremy did that once to a film camera of Tisha's when we were first dating....we almost didn't get over the hurtle. Camera's are a big deal agree.gif.

Looking at picking up the Canon S3IS. I would like the S5, but the budget will be busted just to get the S3. Thanks for all the nice words people. wub.gif

Sorry to hear about your camera. Go back in mid summer and do Stilliguamish. It's a really fun scramble.

It was the Canon S2. I really liked it. Good quality, lightweight for travel, and it took good quality movies also. The S2 is one of the main reasons I am looking at the S3. Not quite ready to go DSLR yet.

Well, Stillaguamish is on my list for sometime this season, so PM me when you want to go back for a revenge climb. I like that area in the fall: nice colors. Do you have any plans to try that "moderate climb up the north side of Dickerman" that you were eyeballing? cool.gif
