Route: Stuart Lake trailhead past Colchuck Lake and up Aasgard Pass. Summits: Enchantment Peak (northeast peak and almost southwest spire), Little Anapurna Elevation gained: Darned if I know Miles round trip: A lot After you say The Enchantments, what else is left to say?
A big moon in July 2007 produced an eerie look in the Enchantments.

Well, I guess there is something: 1. Aasgard Pass has only two short snow patches. 2. Upper lakes are still mostly frozen. 3. Middle lakes (Inspiration, Perfection, Crystal, etc.) just emerging. 4. The needle southwest of the summit (?) of Enchantment looks taller. I tried it from two sides but chickened out about 50 feet from the top. 5. Anapurna summit is a nice place, broad and flat with interesting stonework. Wouldn't mind camping there some night. 6. Mountain goats there are a little too friendly. 7. Aasgard Pass kicked my aas.

Love that "Kids will be kids" photo. Even taken in a place where good goat pics are hard to avoid, that one is outstanding. agree.gif

Very nice TR. One can only take so many photo onslaughts. It's great to see some brevity.

Nowhere have I seen as many goats as when we were in there for three days in early August a few years ago. Hanging around camp, on the way to peaks; even had one follow us up the summit block of Cannon Mtn.

So does anybody know if the spire southwest of the northeast summit of Enchantment Peak is actually higher? It looked that way.

Must have been cool to have clear skies and a full moon up there! The nice folks at the ranger station read me your exact description when I asked about conditions. Did you give them a report or are they using nwhikers? wink.gif
