On the way back through Maple Falls, stopped to say Hi to JenJen... but had to leave her a note instead.

People are getting to Mt. Shuksan from the south right now. They were clearing the road to Table Mt. late last week so should be open soon. The site below is for the reports for Shuksan.

I called the Ranger Station on Wed. to inquire about Artist Point road... they confirmed that it is being cleared (we all knew that already) but wouldn't promise an opening date... other than saying it would be open by the end of the month.
We considered heading up there after our hike... but we were just too dirty (= soaked with deet) and opted to head back to town for burgers & brew instead.

Let me just add that I'd only been to Heliotrope once before... on 6-12-04. Just three days after I joined NWHikers... and it provided my source of info for my first post.
