Tested out the new Bionic knee by hiking up to Stuart Lake Sunday. It worked! up.gif Weather was crappy on the west side, but it was warm and dry over near Leavenworth. Trail is in good shape, there were a couple of trees over the trail between the TH and the lake. Very minor stuff though. We sweated our way to the lake and as I caught my first glimpse of the water I also spied some folks hanging around their tent. They had parkas, gloves, and hats on .... huh.gif ...five minutes later I found out why....the wind was just howling at the lake and it was very cold. So we had a quick lunch, cleaned up some garbage, and went on our way back down.....no wind on the rest of the trail at all. A very nice place to visit. 10 miles maybe 1600 feet gain
Only view of Stuart that was allowed by the clouds

Just FYI....went back to this beautiful lake yesterday. I was introducing a niece to hiking, I figured I could call the hike at the bridge, the meadow (where the fourth picture was taken), or if she was into it we could make the lake and go for a swim. She did very well! but then she chickened out on the swim after feeling the water! lol.gif I went off the rock into that beautiful water twice! eek.gif Man did that feel GOOD! There are still a couple of trees to climb over on this trail, and the bugs were VERY aggressive bug.gif ....but it was a great relief to the 101 temps over there on Friday....and we made the "Sound of Music" performance outside last night! Just another awesome, weekend in the Northwest! dance.gif
