When you are in that area again and feeling tiptop one thing you can consider is looking for the old trail that runs from "Three Tarns" (below Alta - Becky's name) up and over East Alta and down to Park Lakes. There is obvious tread on the Park Lakes side. However, portions on the Three Tarns side are quite challenging to locate.

Nice pics, I really like that area, the mix of lakes, ridges, and the views off Alta are sweet. How were the bugs ?

A friend of mine is coming out, that would have been a good trip, but Mt. Maude / Ice Lakes as a dayhike should give him a sense of one area of Washington wilderness. That may be a possibility to add on, or take my son back out there. Just gorgeous.

I just love that 4000 ft and 12 miles is your sick hike.
LOVE IT.
Someday it will be my well hike.

I am glad to hear that you both are showing signs of getting better. And even happier to know that neither one of you is contagious else I'd regret being in close proximity last week.
That said, get better soon, dearies.

Much too nice this time of year to be in the closet.

Hope you're both continuing to feel better and better.
That hike up Alta is a great ridge. As you mentioned, almost all the crowds usually go to Rampart Lakes, so Lila Lakes and Alta stay less crowded.
