Thanks for the trip report. It sounds like you had a fantastic hike.
How was the fishing and swimming?

Alpine Lakes Wilderness high routes

Just plain "Wow!" Thank you for the TR and the sense of drama that you unfold with each day's procession across passes, ridges, snow banks and glissaded snowfields.
I have seen just an itsey-bitsey part of what you saw...and, like you, I saw it in less than optimal conditions, thanks to the recent eruption of Mt. St. Helens ('twas summer, 1980). There was a break in the clouds and I looked down on a serene Rowena Lake from Hinman. But, I sure wish I kept at it and did a lot more in that high country. Maybe too many trips on the ferrys to Olys? Now, let's see those photos and the lakes that were added to your life's list.

<grin> Yep. We did.
With Jeremey along, we were guaranteed some fishing.
With me along, we were guaranteed at least a little swimming.
We also had Curtis Rafts and floated around a couple of the lakes as well.

Yeah...I've been slacking. Suppose I should put mine up tomorrow.
Nice pics to both of you, Tish and Jeremey...really like that pika shot.

Wow. The ultimate ALW adventure.
One of my biggest off-trail adventures was a tiny piece of your trip, a half-day finding my way from Ivanhoe to Escondido Ridge. I'm in awe of all the steep-terrain navigation you did.

There is only 1 problem with such an adventure. Now that you have done the absolute best possible trip, what will you do for an encore? Siimply unbelievable experience. Looks like the weather was OK and probably helped not being 100% sunny the entire time. Did you lay out exact courses from area to area on the map or was it more of a case " well, we are here and can see it would be fun to slip thru that upper gap in the rock face so we can then amble over to the next lake"? Have you had a chance to count the official named lakes you visited? I guess the "Alpine Lakes Wilderness" turned out to be an appropriate name for the area.
Congratulations on a stupendous trip and making it back in fine shape!
