I have a friend in Hood River; I live in Index. We want to meet half way and hike or ski somewhere. Yakima seems the best place. Y/N? ideas? Thanks

Paradise is roughly equidistant -- Chinook Pass also.

Plenty of great rock climbing near Yakima. Plenty of hiking and skiing within striking distance, and some of the best fly fishing in the state is close by too. There is whitewater and flat water paddling opportunity in the area as a bonus.

Nature exists with a stark indifference to humans' situation.

I'd suggest hiking in the canyon. There's really not much snow above 6000' right now. Too many hunters in the woods. You might get shot at.

Have I offended you today?
