This one would be for the "strange" department. This is a news story about the Vietnam War from an Idaho resident who lived it. He still lives it. War is strange. http://www.mtexpress.com/wood_river_journal/features/after-years-memories-of-vietnam-linger/article_7e76e43e-ef94-11e4-9e38-c7f473ba89c0.html

only "funny" because I didn't even know they made people this stupid.

Follow up. The ship in the middle is the USS Long beach. She had an important SAR role using helicopters to pick up pilots who had gone into the ocean. She saved a lot of lives. Today she is in Bremerton, WA..

Beware the water hazard

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

Posted this in Trail Talk in the Yellowstone Grizzly thread but here it is again. Man harrasses grizzlies in bear costume and lives to drive away.

most wars are religious wars,
Ain't that the truth. I feel religion has been at the heart of most all man's conflicts through the centuries. The biblical story of Cain and Abel is a good example of this. Then there were the crusades. (and some wonder why Muslims hate the west so much.) Man likes to kill.

Then
Today Salvage (Edit) I have a friend who was on Long Beach during the Vietnam War. 17 Y/O, South China Sea. He got busted for a joint and the Seattle judge made him pick between jail and military service. He got his GED on board. The ship had a proper medical clinic and staff. The chopper crews did the SAR.

It's a model and photo off of Bing images, not mine. It shows the stern area. I did visit Long Beach once during the war when she was in the Bay Area. I was just a kid. It was the SAR function that really interested me. That model shows the stern deck. You can't see that above view from a dock.
