First for the snow report - Just a few inches of slop from the pass down to Bear, and Deer. Not bad just wet and sloppy.
Dorothy must be one of those lake that gets a lot of traffic, as the trail is way over built, and the stairs were numerous. Nice lake! I enjoyed mirror finish, and took many pictures.

I saw a similar one last October near Copper Lake. It was about 12"-15" in size.weird mushroom2? weird mushroom1?

There's an interesting article about edible mushrooms, the gathering of, cooking, etc .... it's in the PI, Wednesday, morning edition. Sorry, I don't know how to add the link.
But the very mushroom you are describing is referenced in the article.
