Good one, but actually to me the worst thing is being with someone who makes you wish that you were alone.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

I gotta admit that is pretty bad too, but I've lived a lot of my life around many people at school and have felt utterly alone. So the quote is very true with myself at times. I suffer more from being alone than people I may not like so much.

That's a shame but at least you learned a little bit. I like hiking. But hiking entails sweating, mosquitos, sleeping on the ground, rain, snow, hours and hours of the "same thing", brush, talus, carrying that heavy backpack, dealing with unexpected conditions, etc etc. The positive benefits are at a price that not everyone is willing to pay. I'd just assume not be around when a person makes that discovery so I tend not to hike with strangers unless they are experienced enough to know that they like hiking beforehand. Or, on the occasions when I would go with the new hiker, I would have to know him/her personally prior to the trip to know that he/she is at least mental tough enough to have a chance at maintaining a good attitude through the trials that the mtns can at times put you through. Of course there are always exceptions, like for a hot girl. Then the rules go out the window.

"Be here now." Lawrence Gonzalez I like it when a quote so succinctly sums up a rule for living others have spent whole books on explaining that the quote is shorter than its author's name.
