I've got a picture, somewhere in my box of pictures, that I took of the Bogachiel Ranger Station some time in either 90 or 91. It was staffed at the time.
Please post share it, if convenient! We'll hope to see legendary Ranger Bogachiel Beth's face in the window! (She's often camped at Flapjack since the RS was lost.) That would have been about Beth's first year, I think?

Does anyone know if the Camp Wilder (Elwha) and Bear Camp (Dosewallips) shelters will be repaired or have been?
As of last summer, Wilder had only two walls partially standing. Duck mentioned that it was "on his list" but was unsure whether enough (any?) of the original members were sound enough to make restoration possible. In September, Bear Camp looked tired but the front roof was straight. So the porch roof pole must have been replaced sometime after these photos, taken by Don Abbott in 1996 and 2004.
Edit: Here's a link to a 2007 photo showing the roof fixed.

Cool shelter pictures Rod, thanks for posting them. Is this the same Don Abbott that used to write trip reports in the "Pack and Paddle Magazine"?

Here's one of the Bogachiel Ranger Sta. in 1981 (thanks to Happyhiker)

The last time I visited this cabin was the fall before the river took it out. The horse barn and shelter were already gone. I sat on the porch and my legs hung out over the river bank. She was gone in the first high water. I can't remember the exact year but as said earlier in this thread it was in the early 1990's.

I wonder how much longer the EV shelter will last...the river had gained quite a bit of ground last time I visited.

Great pictures everyone. up.gif Makes me wish I had carried a camera all those years. Most I've seen but a few were gone by the time I arrived. For instance, all that was left of Sundown Lk shelter was the footings. It's great to see a picture of what it used to look like. Thanks! Keep em coming.

.....leaving me wanting to return over and over in what ever capacity that may be, even if one day my knees are too old and I can only see the mountains from my porch. Jason Hummel
