The road to the trailhead is passable to any passenger vehicle with compact snow and ice in places. It's paved to 3.6 miles then turns to dirt and gravel. The potholes are getting devilishly deep and with the slush cover they can sneak up on you pretty quick. Forest Road 2510-060 to the trailhead is bare.
Nature has transformed the trail into a makeshift creek and there are numerous puddles riddling the path. Some of these puddles are deep and most require scooting around on the outside unless you have rubber boots. Slushy snow covered the trail in areas but gaiters are not required to 2.4 miles. Two large creeks must be negotiated which may be well impassable if the runoff increases any considerable amount. At 2.4 miles a large creek flows over a good ten feet of trail and must be forded. No good crossings were spotted upstream and just downstream the creek emptied into the Duckabush River.
That trail can be a wet one. I remember coming out after a nice trot to Big Hump and nearly losing a boot in one crossing...of what is usually a dry ditch later in the season. Every little ditch was filled to overflowing with water.
With the amount of precip the area has been receiving and what is coming in this weekend's storm, even low-key trails like the Duck could present problems.
Bring waders.
