This is my first trip report and it's five month old! Sadly, we took a brand new camera, and were not very happy with the quality of our pics.
Oh well....here goes. We spent the better part of a week on the PCT in Goat Rocks Wilderness. It was our first time in the area, and it was spectacular! We left a car at White Pass and then began our trip at the Nanny Ridge Trail head.
We spent the first night at Sheep Lake. It was one of the coolest nights I've spent outside. We listened to a pair of owls conversing as we watched the full moon slip into a beautiful orange total lunar eclipse.
We took along our new Aeolos tent. I love this tent! It's like waking up inside a hot air balloon!
Day 2. Heading for Cispus Pass
Sparrow found some shade on the pass.
Looking over the Pass. We camped 2 nights on the bench you can see accross the way. It was an amazing place. We spent an entire day exploring the area.
Stop and smell the flowers.
Day 4 heading for the 2 1/2 mile ridge run. This was a gorgeous stretch, but it was a bit of a pants wetter! Lots of scree, exposure and a lovely breeze constantly nudging us tward the edge!
Heading down from the ridge toward McCall Basin.
Had to stop in the basin for a rock stacking break.
Upper McCall Basin. We spent two nights here. The view was mesmerizing.
Guarding camp.
We spent our final night at Hidden Spring and then headed for White Pass.

I love off season trip report posting. This reminds me that summer will come again. Eventually.

Nice pictures! I especially like this one
The top two rocks in the cairn picture kind of remind me of a begging marmot... maybe you have to be looking at it at the right angle

I think your camera did just fine. This is a trip I've always wanted to do but everybody keeps backing out on me because of that "ridge run" as you called it. I think it's looks exciting, and I imagine the views are better than incredible. But my mom peed her pants just thinking about it, and Tamster hesitates too. Given her fear of falling from a great height, I think this one might be hard on her...
Gorgeous photos. I can't wait to see that area in person!

At the risk of boring you all, here are a few more pics of the ridge walk.

It's cold and wet outside. I highly doubt I am going to be bored looking at your mountain porn
I looked up your route on TOPO. Nice! How was the glacier crossing of Packwood?

We were mostly above the glacier. Just had a very sketchy patch of ice to cross on the far side. It was a good warm up for the ridge!

Looking at your photos I am very much reminded of my last hike through the area except your trip was in the sun and mine was - well - not
Thanks for the photos.

Nice report, and I don't see a problem with your camera either. That section was part of a longer trip I did with my brother and daughter a couple years ago (we went from Trout Lake to White Pass on the PCT). Brings back some great memories, thanks!

Those are great pix and reminds me of the time I went up there in September .......
Old Snowy summit
I also walked the ridge from Old Snowy over to Goat Lake, which was pretty rough but saved me a bunch of time backtracking down.

Everyone talks about how the Goat Rocks is a "must do". Now I know why! I think that your photos are stunning (but I'm not a very savy photographer). As others have mentioned, your photos are a nice sight to see on a soggy January day (at least here in the Portland area where it NEVER snows and we haven't seen the sun for who knows how long!).
"I will lift my eyes to the hills. From whence does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth."
Psalm 121:1
