Some people, like my sister, have a knack for picking up lyrics after hearing a song just a few times.  But as for me, I can still be mishearing them years later.

I used to think Living on Tulsa Time was Living on Toast and Tang... doh.gif

Anyone have their favorite misheard lyrics?

My favorite was hearing someone at a Crosby, Stills, Nash concert say to his freind, "I hope they play wooden chips!"

But of course we all remember wondering what it'd be like to be not only blinded by the light, but "wrapped up like a douche" as well.

From Steppenwolf's The Pusher -
Well, now if I were the president of this land
You know, I'd declare total war on The Pusher man
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd run
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun

I used to think the last line was
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and I'd raise the rent.   dizzy.gif

The Police - "Message in a Bottle"   heard as Message in a Fossil. I heard that from a friend many years ago.

Basically I can't understand any of the words here. Besides, they are just mouthsynching with stereotypical filming techniques to make a buck.

"There's a bathroom on the right"        confused.gif

From the chorus of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising"

Dont go around tonight,
Well, its bound to take your life,
Theres a bad moon on the rise.

One time, I even heard a DJ say that he misheard it that way.

.................................

"Secret Asian man"          dizzy.gif

From Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man"

Secret agent man, secret agent man
They've given you a number and taken away your name

For years I wondered why the spy had to be an oriental.       doh.gif

................................

And finally, my all time favorite, as heard fifty years ago by a horny, naive 16 year old (I couldn't believe they were actually playing a song with those lyrics on the radio). ........

"It's finger *******, ******* time           eek.gif
It feels so good

From Hank Ballard's "Finger Poppin' Time"

(Hey now, hey now, hey now, hey now
It's finger pop poppin' time
Finger poppin' poppin' time}
I feel so good

And that's a real good sign

It was a great disappointment when I learned that they really weren't playing those lyrics on the radio.         frown.gif

My daugther loves the Steve Miller classic:

Vigo, Jed, and Alina,
Don't carry me too far away
Vigo, Jed, and Alina,
Cause it's here that I've got to stay

misheard lyrics
Remember the KBSG commercials that were on TV a few years back?  My favorite was "Sugar-fried honey butts".
