Just a reminder/warning that trailhead thieves are staying busy even in the winter rolleyes.gif mad.gif Three cars were broken into at the High Point TH this morning (between 7-7:30AM) and regretfully there were some valuables taken. PLEASE TAKE YOUR VALUABLES WITH YOU! Hopefully if they don't get anything they'll stop trying... The trail is extremely icy from the new section on up. Not just hard snow, actually ice. A few brave souls were without traction devices but not me! Yak Trax did just fine. The summit was sunny, calm and toasty warm...such a pleasant surprise!

Road to Tiger
I certainly do not mean to suggest that the lady living in her car on the road to Tiger 3 had anything to do with those break-ins, but she's been there since before Christmas. So sad.

Update 1/30/08
To continue this thread...went up Tiger yesterday for a little birthday hike. No ice this time, only lots of beautiful fluffy snow. I've never seen Tiger looks so pretty! More than a foot at the top. Only a few hardy souls out to enjoy it. Glad to celebrate another year of good health and good fortune to visit such lovely places. agree.gif

Jasper thanks you Zach for checking it out. He may head there tomorrow to get some miles in without his driver needing snowshoes.

Zach is going for a few more extra miles tomorrow...heading for Mt. Si. Should be pretty in snow too. Anybody else going?

Amen on not keeping valuables in your car. I have learned this lesson the hard hard way twice. Once at Poo Poo Point/Chirico Trailhead two years ago and this past Christmas Eve near Snoqualmie Falls. I've resolved to never leave anything in my car that I couldn't live without. A friend of mine even leaves his car unlocked.

Odd things on Tiger today (besides the fact that it's a "traction devices required" kind of day... rolleyes.gif ). On my way up I passed a fellow with a bicycle coming down. 2 hours later I passed him again as I was going down. He was headed up hill, but just standing there looking into the trees. Barely responded to my greeting. Strange. Also on the way down I spotted a tent pitched up on the side of the hill, about a mile from the trailhead. As curious as I was... my better judgement said leave it alone. Finally, on my way down the road I decided to speak with the woman who has been parking her car there for several months. I worry about homeless folks, especially this time of year when it's so cold. But she says she's not living there, she's working on some project and she lives about 8 miles from there in Issaquah and she's doing fine. I had more questions but didn't want to be nosey and was just glad to know she was OK.

Might have been the guy we saw on the TMT last Saturday.

Dark long hair a Jeans Jacket and Jeans heavyset with a Target bag with Cokes in in no pack no gear trying to see if a minimag light worked at 3:45pm on a heavily overcast day.

hmmmmmmmm. I guess there's more than one out there. The dude I saw was thin and seemed mostly pre-occupied, not stoned. Zach didn't seem to take exception to him, which he often does if he's concerned about someone's intentions. Even on quiet lonesome days up there I have to keep reminding myself it's an urban park...

I'm so glad you spoke to the lady in the car - I have been concerned for her for a long time and haven't had the nerve to stop. I hope she was being truthful about being there! Good job Zach.
