wow...what a wonderful weekend. I headed out to PT on Saturday. Raz2sea and I carpooled up from the Kingston side of the ferry. We met up with HJT in Fort Warden, got an eyeshot of lighthouses, beaches, rocks, and bunkers before headed into Port Townsend for lunch. Afterwards we headed off to Dungeness to find a campspot. HJT was only out for the day but later that evening we met up with seawallrunner (so NIVE to finally meet you) and her friend Claire. We spend a wonderful evening around a warm campfire and enjoyed a late night stroll to view the surf and the moon.

Sunday morning we all headed off to the spit. Who should me bump into at the trailhead? Quark, JimK and More Cowbell. We took off an a leasierly walk along the spit enjoying views of the wildlife refuge, a couple of juvie bald eagles and lots of interesting rocks. Quark spotted a chiton. We spotted a gull harassing a river otter and before we knew it (OK so it felt like forever) we found outselves at the Dungeness Lighthouse. I seem to recall some interesting antics occuring on the ground (I think someone has pictures  paranoid.gif ). We didn't stay long because he had a 4.5 mile hike back out so off we went. JimK pointed out a seal that was sunning on the beach. We were out before dark and headed over to The Three Crabs for a yummy dinner. The began the race back to Kinston to catch the 8:30 ferry only to find out on the ferry boards that the wait was at least two hours! We all (2 card) decided to head down to Bainbridge Island to try the Seattle ferry. Thankfully there was no backup. We were into Seattle about 9:30 and then began the drive back up toe the Edmonds ferry to drop off raz2sea. I was home about 10:30pm.

I'm sure there are tons of pics. Gorgeous weather made for a great day!
I'll get mine posted later today because I'm one of the lucky few who have to WORK today!

And I missed you? lol...

That place was a ZOO yesterday! We stopped by on our way back from the coast to meet up with my friends Ldyblade and Rumidude. Yeah, they got a parking spot, we didn't. mad.gif

(Of course it was my fault. You don't start hiking the spit after noon on a sunny warm weekend!)

And that campground is nice, I like it even in rain biggrin.gif

It was gorgeous yesterday!

We ended up stopping at the Kitsap Memorial SP for an hour or so on the way back so Kirk could take a nap. The Hood Canal was quiet and pretty, lots of birds out smile.gif

More Cowbell found the chiton.  At first I didn’t care a whole hell of a lot about it – I had thought she said “hey, there’s a kite on the beach.”  BFD, I thought….but I wandered over to see what everyone was looking at, and lo!  There was a deceased chiton.

I think my photos pretty much sucked due to the harsh lighting.  I only took about 50 or so, and some of them were half-hearted and half-assed, knowing they wouldn’t turn out.  Haven’t reviewed them yet.

I'm leaving the fancy photos to the pros but here are a few from my vantage:
I've been to the Dungeness W.R. before but never all the way to the light house.  This was a GOOD LONG walk and we had the luck of the tides as they were going out for entire trip.  Be prepared for slushy sand, ankle twisting cobblestones and sneaky attack waves.  But the payoff at the end is worth it, the weather was perfect and I was with a great troupe of comedians.

Nice Pütz-in-Boots!  up.gif  Looks like the Spit has been quite popular recently. Areas that are usually snow-free (Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River, South Fork of the Skokomish River, etc.) have been hammered this season. Looks like the beach is nice and clear!

Here it is!  My filmmaking debut!  I'd like to thank my cast, asst. film crew (prompters) and BPJ (for his inspiring contributions to NWHinkers).

I bet you guys were these little silohuettes in the distance!

Sorry I missed you all! I figured you were gone by the time I arrived, or I would have paid more attention to the people out there.

Hey Canyonwren, what time were you out there? We left the Lighthouse around 2:30, back at the cars around 5pm.
