And I missed you? lol... That place was a ZOO yesterday! We stopped by on our way back from the coast to meet up with my friends Ldyblade and Rumidude. Yeah, they got a parking spot, we didn't. mad.gif (Of course it was my fault. You don't start hiking the spit after noon on a sunny warm weekend!) And that campground is nice, I like it even in rain biggrin.gif

It was gorgeous yesterday! We ended up stopping at the Kitsap Memorial SP for an hour or so on the way back so Kirk could take a nap. The Hood Canal was quiet and pretty, lots of birds out smile.gif

More Cowbell found the chiton. At first I didn’t care a whole hell of a lot about it – I had thought she said “hey, there’s a kite on the beach.” BFD, I thought….but I wandered over to see what everyone was looking at, and lo! There was a deceased chiton. I think my photos pretty much sucked due to the harsh lighting. I only took about 50 or so, and some of them were half-hearted and half-assed, knowing they wouldn’t turn out. Haven’t reviewed them yet.

I'm leaving the fancy photos to the pros but here are a few from my vantage:

I've been to the Dungeness W.R. before but never all the way to the light house. This was a GOOD LONG walk and we had the luck of the tides as they were going out for entire trip. Be prepared for slushy sand, ankle twisting cobblestones and sneaky attack waves. But the payoff at the end is worth it, the weather was perfect and I was with a great troupe of comedians.

Nice Pütz-in-Boots! up.gif Looks like the Spit has been quite popular recently. Areas that are usually snow-free (Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River, South Fork of the Skokomish River, etc.) have been hammered this season. Looks like the beach is nice and clear!

Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

bawl.gif bawl.gif bawl.gif I shoulda been there with you hotness hikers [whine, whine icon]. This old goat needs to be let out of the barn.

.....leaving me wanting to return over and over in what ever capacity that may be, even if one day my knees are too old and I can only see the mountains from my porch. Jason Hummel

Was great meeting up with everyone. Thank to PiB for the ride from Kingston and hauling me all the way back to my car in Edmonds!! So here's my choice pics from nearly 400 that I took. They still need some post processing but with my MAC on the operating table I'm without my Photoshop. So here we go... Beginning of the day at Port Gamble
Lighthouse at Ft Warden
Coastal Battery from WWI
Hanging in there
Coast at Ft Warden
Shore and bluffs at Dungeness County Park:
Sunset at Dungeness
Moon at Sunset
Moon goes Supernova!!
Ice Halo
The Olympics in all their glory
Mt Baker was out, with our Lighthouse destination in the distance
Next stop, Human Brains!!! eek.gif
Seagull trying to look cool
Our ship, unfortunately, did not come in
Quark, eats lunch, can't get up
Close to our destination, the Dungeness Spit Lighthouse
The motley crew from L-HR: Quark, More Cowbell, Putz-in-Boots, raz2sea (kneeling), JimK and bcfc53 The Sun's out and the HOTNESS begins!!!
Quark shows how HOTNESS is done correctly
A happy Seal wishing us a lovely 5 mi hike back to the cars

Sorry I missed you all! I figured you were gone by the time I arrived, or I would have paid more attention to the people out there.

Hey Canyonwren, what time were you out there? We left the Lighthouse around 2:30, back at the cars around 5pm.
