I tried to get farther up road 27 toward Mt Townsend on Sunday but was stopped just a little farther up the road than my last attempt (past tunnel crk turn, past lower quilecene, past the popular veiwpoint, through the gate but not much further). Not as much snow had melted out with the rain as I had hoped. So I went to check out the Tunnel Crk area. I got stopped at around 1600 ft on this rd or about 2 miles from the tunnel crk TH. I had enough time today to get to the Tunnel creek shelter around 3700 ft but not much more. The ski out was more fun than I thought it would be. The trail has a gradual but consistent grade and I pretty much just had to do a speed check here and there and stop to climb over some fallen timber a couple times and I was back at the car.

Thanks RonL. hockeygrin.gif I've been up the Tunnel Creek Trail once and there definitely wasn't that much snow! It's going to take awhile to melt out this year I would suppose.

Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

Skiing Tunnel Creek trail. cool.gif Was there enough snow to ski the road as well?

.....leaving me wanting to return over and over in what ever capacity that may be, even if one day my knees are too old and I can only see the mountains from my porch. Jason Hummel

I parked when my oilpan started to drag... so yeah, there is all the road skiing you can eat up there right now.
