Here are some shots from the Dogie trail in the red rock country near Sedona, AZ. (Hiked President's Day.) The trail begins on the rim of the canyon above Sycamore Creek and heads down into the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness. It’s about 5 miles from the trailhead down to the creek. It winds along juniper benches, near ancient watering holes, and beneath giant sandstone pillars and buttes. The creek was swollen with runoff from heavy snows in the high country up near Flagstaff. Blue skies and red rock are a welcome sight to a Northwesterner in the winter. Enjoy!

It's interesting to see a place I've never been. Thanks for the pictures. up.gif What was the temperature? Is this the best time of year for hiking that area?

.....leaving me wanting to return over and over in what ever capacity that may be, even if one day my knees are too old and I can only see the mountains from my porch. Jason Hummel

Thanks - it was a fun trip. The temperature ranged from the low 30s to about 55; there was still some snow in the shaded areas. The elevation is just under 5,000', so you could theoretically do it any time of year but in my limited experience in the area it seems spring and fall are best.

Aren't there supposed to be like flying saucers or vortexes or special Earth Energy down there around Sedona? Did you feel anything like that?
