I was looking for a low elevation hike today cause I've already snowshoed a bunch this year. Thinking that it has been warm the last two weeks, there shouldn't be much snow here, but I was wrong. There was a tree down 1000 ft. before the trailhead. So the trail started with almost a foot of snow and quickly became 2 ft. by 1200' elev. The snow was fairly hard but sunk through several times. At 3.5 miles there were no more tracks to follow so I had to make my own. At the high point of 1555, there was at least 3-4 ft. of snow in places. I made it to the end by the river and turned around with very wet feet. It will be some time before the trail melts out completely.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear about snow there. I just looked up my TR from Jan. 06, it was rainy, but no snow at all. This sure is banner year for snow. Thanks for the update. up.gif
