It sure does look impossible short of a vertical climb doesn't it? You have to get right up to the base of the rocks to see the route. Basically you keep on the ridge to the bottom of the summit rocks, then ascend a gully just to the right of that big blocky rock in your photo. It looks steep even from there but it's a pretty easy walk up. Once up that gully it's just a flat ridge to the tower.
I'm really kicking myself. My track log showed me an easy quarter mile of ridgline away. My hiking partner wanted to go up to the base of the rock. I was in to much of a hurry to get down. Guess I'll have to eat crow now.
Upon viewing the lookout at a distance, and being a 1/2 hour past my turnaround time, we headed back. It looked impassable from a distance. I'm kicking myself for not doing any prior research. It was a spur of the moment sort of thing. Wish I would have read through a couple of trip reports before leaving. We were so close.
Ahh, yes - so close, yet so far away (I think Carole King had a song like that!). Looks like you had good weather - you would have enjoyed the views - next time!
